About This Game They lived normal lives in a small city in the heart of a prosperous country. The combat part of the game is what disappoints me the most, this needs to be reworked or revisited somehow, the current system isn't that fun.When reaching the airport in my tutorial, the game CTD'ed on me. Hey there, I streamed this out of curiousity and really liked it. The game relies on your reaction to events more than the characters (You don't hear from them unless they're stressed which is a nice reminder that you aren't paying attention). Most of my runs started off with me being aggressive and then being really timid due to losing a few people. I was worried about the stress factor at first, but it turned out to be a lot easier to deal with than I expected. The random events repeat but have options about how to deal with them. I can see people saying that's repetitive, but for the price of the game I still think it has a nice amount of variety (depending on if you play around with choices) based on what you do. A few things are determined by rng, such as hunting returns and some of combat. I don't know how much rng effects events, but I suspect it does at least a small amount. I will say that after a while I found healing items to be more important than food (usually due to me being amazingly skilled at killing my doctor).On the comment about the characters not reacting in horror to things. I find that a little silly. People in war torn countries tend to become a bit dead inside to things, so people not constantly crying and panicking makes sense to me. You pick if your team play hero or keep their heads down, but as I said earlier I had plenty of fun reading something and feeling my eyes go wide.TLDR: Random events start to repeat but you can pick how to handle them. It relies on your reaction to events instead of the characters. RNG can hurt you a little bit with items, but I always seemed to eventually get what I needed (Health items are gold). My short experience with Displaced left be best describing it as (1) a choose-your-own-adventure game, (2) with some exploration elements when on the map\/travel screen, and (3) a (very light) auto-combat system largely tied to its light take on inventory management. It is unlikely to satisfy anyone looking for deep strategy, but it does a fair job at making your choices matter, and telling bite-sized narratives that succeed in their emotional impact: very human stories in a country ravaged by war..
